As I See It: Spring into Action: Tips for Campaign Success

With Spring Event season in bloom, campaign season may be on your next horizon. Campaigns are not for the faint-hearted. They require planning, super organization and compelling donor-focused communications—not to mention lots of meetings and committee conversations.

Campaign fundraising can involve long stretches of busy days that challenge our hearts, senses and minds. I am constantly inspired by colleagues who navigate this landscape—from veteran strategists to bright-eyed newcomers who bring fresh energy and digital expertise. These connections sustain us through moments of campaign fatigue.

In this colorful yet challenging landscape, I have found seven key points can keep fundraising spirits high:

Do what you say you will do. Your credibility is your strongest currency. Promise an update by Friday. Deliver Thursday.

Do the right thing. When metrics pressure builds, ethical choices create sustainable relationships.

Take responsibility. When campaign numbers stall or donors go silent, own it, and move on with transparent solutions.

Pull your own weight. Balance self-reliance with teamwork. Carry your portion of the load and reach out when appropriate.

Think holistically. Success is not just dollars raised but communities strengthened and missions advanced.

Respect others. From new donors to seasoned co-chairs, every interaction shapes your campaign's reputation.

Check the mirror. I could write two volumes about my mistakes! The question is not if you will make them, but how you will grow stronger when you do.

These key points are values that keep us grounded when the finish line keeps moving. How have they shaped your fundraising journey? Together, we can transform campaign fatigue into a vibrant engagement that honors both donors and the causes we serve.
